Supensa is a recipe search engine built to be calm and clutter-free. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
“Supensa” (“we”, “us”) operates the website at supensa.com and the Supensa mobile apps. Supensa indexes publicly available recipes from third-party websites and links back to their original sources.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — if you create an account, we store your email address and display name. Your password is never stored in plain text; it is protected using a one-way cryptographic hash.
- Your saved content — recipes you like or add to your cookbook, so we can show them back to you across your devices.
Information collected automatically
- Activity used for recommendations — recipes you view, like, or save are used to personalise the recipes we suggest to you.
- Device & notification data (app) — if you enable notifications, we store a push notification token along with your device platform and chosen language, so we can deliver the notifications you opted into.
- Technical data — standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, used to keep the service running, secure, and to measure aggregate usage.
Cookies & local storage
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We also use your browser’s local storage to remember preferences such as your theme (light/dark), language, and bookmarks saved before you sign in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool to understand aggregate traffic. It does not identify individual users.
How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the service, including your account and saved recipes.
- To personalise recommendations based on what you like, save, and view.
- To send push notifications you have opted into (you can turn these off at any time in your device settings).
- To keep Supensa secure, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
Push notifications
Mobile notifications are delivered through the Expo push notification service, which relays messages to Apple’s and Google’s notification systems. We only ask for notification permission after you have started using the app, and you can disable notifications at any time from your device’s settings.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate Supensa — for example, our hosting provider and the push notification service described above — and only to the extent needed to provide the service. We may disclose information if required by law.
Third-party recipe sources
Supensa links to recipes hosted on other websites. When you follow a link to an original source, that website’s own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party sites.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete the personal information associated with it. Aggregate, non-identifying data may be retained for analytics.
Your choices & rights
- You can view and update your display name and saved recipes from your profile.
- You can turn notifications on or off from your device settings.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
Children
Supensa is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords and serving the site over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may be highlighted within the service.
