1 Gather all ingredients.
2 Beat brown sugar, honey, and egg in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth; stir in molasses.
3 Combine flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and baking soda in a separate bowl; stir into the molasses mixture to form a sticky dough. Stir in almonds and candied fruit peel. Cover dough and chill overnight.
4 Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease or line cookie sheets. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
