1 Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
2 Cut butter into small chunks and let stand until it reaches room temperature, about 30 minutes.
3 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Add vanilla and butter pieces; mix at medium-low speed until no butter chunks remain and dough just comes together.
